Hi there,

Here in Australia TE's system is:

1 x 5 ru floating rack sleeve
1 x LA Audio MD8 DI (8 way)
1 x Alesis MidiVerb II Multi Effects
1 x Korg DTR-2000 Rack Tuner
1 x Boss FS-5L Foot Switch (tuner mute)
1 x Morley ABY Switcher (only when 2 amps are used)
1 x ETA PD8IEC-CE Power Distribution
1 x AER Domino Amp (sometimes 2 are used)

5 sends of audio available to Front Of House Mixer

Channel 1 - Acoustic guitar - (dry signal)
Channel 2 - Alesis MidiVerb II left - (effects)
Channel 3 - Alesis MidiVerb II right - (effects)
Channel 4 - AER Domino Amp 1 - (amp with effects)
Channel 5 - AER Domino Amp 2 - (amp with effects)

All units are powered from the power distribution
All the cable and connectors used to wire the rack and send signal to and from the AER Domino amp are George L 155.
Tommy's guitar lead is either Rapco or Belden.

I believe the Behringer DI4000 is most pradominately used.

Hi there,

Here in Australia I only use the LA Audio MD8 unit, it is a far superior DI to the Behringer DI4000. The Behringer gets used as spare or if I need to use a smaller rack because of airline excess freight costs.

About how much money am I looking at if I wanted to buy the system TE uses in Australia?

Hawkeye, is there a thread or an email I can talk to you about the gear I have right now? I'm starting to grow tired of the thin sound I'm getting out of my amp.

Hi Hawkeye, Is tommy's midiverb in front of the amp or in a loop of the aer amp? Or where do you suggest i put it with the amp?I have had a lot rack effects but the midiverb 2 is the easiest to use hands down! Also do you know what kind of wood his 808 model is that he currently uses live? He gets a great sound on the new dvd, with all his guitars!!

The MidiVerb II is fed from the DI into the front end of the AER. Nothing is used in the AER loop.

About $4,000 AUD r.r.p. roughly to replace the system. That does not include the AER Domino amp. Sounds a lot of money but if you want good sounding reliable gear that's what you pay. There are cheaper alternatives, but I chose these items simply because I can plug in in, turn it on and it works every time, and that's what puts TE at ease on stage.

Hi there,

I kept the AER Domino after TE used it on one of his tours. That way if he chooses not to bring any gear with him I can use this system. Sometimes he flies with just his guitars and nothing else.

Hi there,

TE wanted to try the 100 watt amp and liked it. More headroom, sounded good on the big stages, so we kept it.

How does this cost 4000 AUD without the amps??

The midiverb is really cheap now a days right?

so im guessing the LA Audio MD8 DI (8 way) is what is expensive.

Can you explain to me what the
-PD8IEC-CE
-LA Audio MD8 DI (8 way)

by the way I am going to buy a compact 60 or a domino in the next few months. I am spoiled by how light the compact is!

Hi there,

Yes the MD8 ($2000.00 AUD) is not a cheap unit to buy here in Australia. The MD8 is a rack of 8 DIs in one unit. The PD8EC-CE is a power distribution unit that feeds clean correct voltage to what ever is plugged into it. These units cost about $300.00 AUD,then there's the 5 ru floating rack at around $500.00 AUD or more. Good quality racks are not cheap to buy. Quality cabling is not cheap to buy either. TE's rack cables would cost about $400.00 retail roughly. Yes you could build this system much cheaper with lesser quality components if you wish but don't complain if it sounds average. If you can't hear the difference between a LA Audio DI and a Behringer DI stay with the much cheaper Berhinger unit. Same with the cables you use. Yes the Alesis midiverb II is cheap to buy on ebay now days, but beware, the old ones don't sound as good as the newer ones. Let's see what else is there, oh yes the tuner that's about $800.00. All these prices are rough r.r.p. prices.

Then if you need to pay somebody to put it together for you at say, $25.00 plus per hour it all adds up.
