Wow incredible independence. I wonder if the improvisation parts are improvised or pre-arranged?

Iv seen this guy on youtube he is really awesome!
Check you his version of "Stand By me" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwZSGJTK1is br /

Do you think he sits there and arranges, or just randomly plays it by ear because he already has feeling for the guitar?

I have pm'd with this guy several times and have transcribed a few of his arrangements. He is a fingerstyle hero! Amazingly, he can hear a song and basically play it back fingerstyle. He told me he has 5000(!?) songs in his head. And I believe him. He is gifted beyond the norm.

In the last few days his account has been axed and all his videos removed. This is either because somebody has finally taken exception to his ~130 covers of copyrighted material or as I have been informed by one of his mates a record company has picked him up and perhaps they had it killed off. Not sure, haven't heard any more details.

I have had to go through my youtube .FLV cache and recover his videos; all was not lost - however I will sorely miss his 1 per day cafe/restaurant video upload.

Ouch, that really sucks, I loved the daily videos.

All the best for him. Now if you would be so kind to share your transcriptions I'd greatly appreciate that. (Also I'd love to get my hands of your youtube cache).

Please let me know if you get any other info about him. Thanks!

PS. Can't believe I didn't save any of the videos locally

I got the scoop - yep, Universal Music sent youtube a dirty letter and they shut down his account. He is a "big fish" - had say 130 videos, a lot of them copyrighted. I'm dissapointed with their actions, you could almost argue that his videos would be beneficial for the copyright holder but the law is the law.

On your computer there will be a cache of youtube videos. (Windows 2000/XP) Search under C:\Documents and Settings\ for all files called get*. (no file extension). Copy them all out somewhere and rename them to .FLV as in flash video.

To watch them you will need a flash video player, eg "FLV player" or you can convert them to .AVI say XVID using Dr DivX. It is tedious but might be worth it. I used a program called "Movies Extractor Scout" to make sifting through all the youtube videos I had watched over the past year searching for Naudo ones easier.

I *did* have every single video he put up, but due to incompetence on my behalf I only have about 30. I will convert them to XVID sometime, zip them up and put them on a torrent site for you. Send me an email - jaw at ii dot net - and we'll organise it, as well as any Naudo transciptions I have done so far (only 2 and they probably won't be the ones you want - funny thing about music how we all have different tastes ;))

By the way, for any other transcriptions I have done (around 10) go to my youtube site (click on JAW over there) look at the video you are interested in and follow the link in the description to the sheet music.

Long live Naudo!

Thanks man, pah damm Universal, I really dont get how it was copyright breach since he was just doing public performances of his interpretations. Ah well, lets hope that it happens, or he makes a comeback somewhere else on the net!!

It's kind of stupid that they would shut down the account, instead of simply removing copyrighted material. Naudo had a bunch of songs there that weren't copyrighted, including some of his own.

I set my cache to 80MB to save space, and I've only got 3 videos there. Bummer.

Email sent :)

Noooo cant be. How can they shut down all of his acount. These were all his own versions of the songs and yeah some were his own songs. Was not selling them or anything. This is ridiculous!

Save the Naudo Videos project. Don't hammer my ftp server downloading all 550mb of videos I have - email me first and we'll work something out.

I am showing disrespect for copyright owners doing this; I'm not about to make any excuses for it. If you have a problem with that and need to talk about it then pm me.

I'm afraid it won't last very long thou, but it's there for now.

Nice pickup Janbe. Funny, I thought he would be a bit more compliant than that and disappear forever. So not only is he a good player but he is also a fighter against the machine!

Just watched his bluesy "House of the Rising Sun". You know, you get bored of a song and stop playing it years ago - well he injects new life into it and makes me want to relearn it and play it more his style!

His last weeks releases have, again, flabbered my ghast. "Logical Song" by Supertramp blew me away; I was smiling with his Grease soundtrack cover.

I would rave on and on about Naudos arrangements except that this is a Tommy forum :)

For my fellow Tommy enthusiasts, pick a song, any song, and have a listen. Tommy - grab him and take him on the road like you did with Jake!

I agree with Jaw on this one. I can't really place a finger on it, but Naudo's style is quite different than Tommy's and I'm sure that these two would create a fantastic show.
