Saw your concert in SLC last night - Thank you so much for doing two sets - I was enthralled the entire evening. I am only sorry I didn't know about the meet and greet - I would love to have you sign one of my guitars. I particularly loved your version of Still Can't Say Goodbye, a touching performance for your dad and Chet.

I still have all the guitars I have ever owned except three - two broken beyond repair and one I foolishly sold - all are acoustics except one, a semi-hollowbody electric similar to the Country Gentleman Chet played - the total count is 16 now and I love them all.

Please come back to Utah and I'll find out about the meet and greet this time so I can meet my idol of the Guitar!!!

Again, Thank You.

Thanks for a wonderful concert last night in Salt Lake City, Tommy. You were magnificent. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to -- and I've been to a quite a few. My wife and I can't get over how generous you are, not only with your incomparable talent but also your time. We just love your infectious enthusiasm when you perform. Every note seems to resonate with love and joy. There are lot of stars out there in the musical firmament, but Patti and I can't think of anyone who shines brighter and for longer than you, Tommy. Much love to you, Gina, Clara and the entire crew. Come back soon.

We saw you live tonight for the first time (in SLC), and hope it won't be our last! Thank you for the most extraordinary evening!

Have a question - you mentioned an acoustic guitarist to look up; one had also been in a special on PBS, but we didn't hear the name clearly and so can't find who it was that you were referring to. Could you possibly tell us who this person is that you recommend?

Love your guitar fingering and your stories,
Sherry

Dear Mr. Emmanuel,

It's midnight and I just returned home after your January 26th concert in Salt Lake City.

You have changed me.

Never have I been to a musical event, film or performance where I felt as much ast I did tonight. I'm a 40 year old guy with two kids, a wife and business. I don't cry much, but tonight you moved me to tears 3 times. Once when you finished the second song of you 1st set, once during the song you wrote for the American Indian Services, and once after I left the concert and went to a cafe to try to sit down and figure out what exactly I had just experienced.

I cried because I never knew music could convey so much feeling. Feeling from you and your instrument to us sitting out there. I truly felt that you were intimately sharing messages with me for 3 hours. You've reminded me that that connection is what music is all about. I know this because as much as I wanted to try and try and try to focus on the technical virtuosity of what you were doing and how you were doing it, I could not. I couldn't because you kept pulling me in. Into a delicate melody, into a drum riff, reaching for my seat as you rip off a loud , fast right handed blast of furry.... I was forced to surrender.
And when that happend, you took over me. I sat there and soaked in the most amazing experience I have ever seen for 2 plus hours in my entire life.

Your way of expressing every note, tap, click, pause and shimmy is completely unique and engaging. You're details in a warm, lush melody were simply intoxicating . And for the love of God, could you possibly be having any more FUN up there? Holy crap you were a 10 year old kid. I wanted to be you so dam bad.

And then you take time to give a bit of workshop in the 2nd set. And what you spoke of is exactly what I am feeling and trying to convey to you. You spoke to us about getting to a point where our practice melts away and becomes music. Music people can feel. Boy did you nail that.

I can't begin to thank you enough for this night. I will never look or listen
to musical performers the same way going forward. If they are playing the notes, great, but are they CONNECTING with me? That's the real question...
You connected with me and only me for 2 plus hours. There was no one else
in the entire audience.

I'm sure you get thousands lof letters like this one every month, but I just had to reach out and let you know how tonight effected me. Even it you never do read it, at least I know I told you. You have re-ignited my passion for music and what it means to me in my life. I will be up at 4:30am (before my wife and kids are up*) so I can practice.

And I will be flying my wife to one of your concerts in the next month, so she to can experience what I did.

Warm Regards,

Tom

I keep an eye out for guitarists as I am 66 and lived in the age of the guitar. I walked by the tv awhile back and the Chicago news was on at one and the newsguy said Tommy Emmanuel was in town with a brief snapshot of you on stage. So I looked you up on you tube and thank God that I did. I tried playing years ago and was promising except that I lacked melody, rythm, and harmony, but not good taste. My younger brother Mike is working on playing the blues and I introduced him to you right away. I hear blues in every thing you play. I recently am listening to Purple Haze, Satisfied Mind, Dave Brubeck, and Georgia with the Bob Lyttle (sic). You have God's gift with a to the tenth power boost from hard work and dedication. If I pass on tonight it will all have been worth it because I finally got a chance to listen and see you play arangements and techniques that I consider genius. Thanks for your artistry because it sure gives me a lift.

Tommy ,
Thanks for the great show last night at Sunset Station in Las Vegas; it was by far the best concert I've ever been to. Thank you also for signing my guitar as you read some of the other names on the guitar you said you've got all the biggies; now after you signed it I have the biggest of all.
May the Lord's favor go before you, and His Blessing overtake you and prosper you in whatever you put your hand to.

Hello! We are very excited to see you at the Wheeler on Tuesday!!! Graeme Hudson and Bill Anderson introduced us in Charlestown, PA way back in 2004??? Maybe. I'm living in Carbondale, CO now and really figured I'd have to go a long distance to ever get the opportunity to see you live again. So, thanks for deciding to come and play in Aspen! I hope you'll have the chance and desire to come back again and again!!! Can't wait for Tuesday.

Mr. Emmanuel,

I just caught your show in Las Vegas. First time I've seen you live. I'm floored. I've seen a lot of guitarists - Segovia to Frisell and many between, the best guitarists of the past 30 years - and you're the best. By far. Well beyond just the craft of playing guitar, which is hard enough (having attempted it myself for those same 30 years), you have soul...Chet's song about fathers, your daughter's song, those matter. You are thoughtful, even when you're just letting it rip.

I'm originally from New England, USA, and it looks like there are no dates in that area on this tour. I know people there that would love to see you. Any chance of fitting in a couple of dates? There are great venues in Boston, of course, but also in Portsmouth, NH and Portland, ME and even up the coast in Maine, as well as in the other New England states. If you do get any dates "back east", I'll fly back to catch them, guaranteed. I became a real fan tonight. I can't say thank you enough.
