I have been a fan of yours and have been studying your technique for some time. I have noticed that when you finger pick you use multiple fingers. I started finger picking with index, middle and ring fingers and have been playing for some time (about a year) but I find that picking with just my thumb and index is more comfortable. I would like to ask if you would recommend that I stick with what I find more comfortable (index and thumb) or use multiple fingers, and would it hinder my advancement as a finger picker if I didn't use index, middle and ring fingers? Thanks in advance

I was on your concert in MUPA, in Budapest. Thank you for your personality and soul, and the perfect performance.
That day I was 40, and that concert was the perfect birthday gift for me. I hope that you return soon, God bless you, big hug from Hungary.

I have been listening to your music for the past few weeks and it has inspired me to pick up my own guitar, after almost 20 years, and start playing again. My introduction to the guitar was at 13 years old and I studied music and played the classical guitar in college. Yet life can throw curves and my guitar has not been a part of my life for many years.
I would truly like to learn the finger style picking/guitar playing but am unsure where to start. I also have a 9 year old child that is showing interest in learning the guitar, so I thought it would be good for us to learn the finger picking style together.
Recently I came across a video where you said, "in order to learn the finger style picking you need to start with the simple tunes." It would helpful if you could send me a list of these "simple" tunes so we could start learning.
It would also be helpful if you could reference one or two of your music books (from your website) that would be good for a beginner.
Thank you for you time and for the wonderful music,

I had the pleasure to be at your hungarian concert last nigh, and... oh, my God, I think I'm in love with you All of my soul and spirit, if you know what I mean. Of course you know.
When I saw you, when I heard you, I felt myself like the part of a divine masterpiece, I felt and feel that as long as there are such a wonderful artist on this planet as you... we are safe. Nothing can hurt us, because your art is nothing more than LOVE ITSELF.
/ By the way, I did not know that with a single guitar anyone can do a lot of things in addition to playing on it... /

I have been listening to your music for the past few weeks and it has inspired me to pick up my guitar (which I have not played for almost 20 years) and start learning to play your style of music. I have a good background in guitar (started playing at 13, studied music and played classical in college) but life can throw curves and I took a differen path, so the guitar took a back seat for all these many years. I would like to learn the fingerstyle playing and I recall a video of you saying to start with the easy stuff. Well, I will be starting from square one and would like to know what you consider the easy music. I also have a young child, age 9, who is interested in learning as well. I figure we both can learn together. Please give me list of songs that would be good for learning fingerstyle picking and myself and my 9 year-old. Also, if you could reference one of your music books, from your website, that would be good for a beginner, that also would be helpful.
thanks so much for you help and beautiful music,

Was listening to "Vincent" by Don McClean today and wondered if Tommy had any recordings of that song with his unique finger style?
ADMIN: No, but Muriel Anderson has a fantastic fingerstyle version on one of her album. When they have played together, Tommy plays this with her, but it's not recorded anywhere.
