My Pops always tried to teach me to finger pick, I could never get it. My past time was always cherished by watching him play. He's gone now, and I miss him dearly. His favorite was Chet Atkins. You remind me much of Chet, in turn, takes me back to listening to my Pops.

You rock like no other and I'm looking forward to hearing you at the Meyer in Green Bay in September...... CAN"T WAIT !!!

I came to see you in Moncton N.B., Canada.
I brought my father as a fathers day gift and have made him a huge fan. He and I get together and play our guitars as often as we can. We are beginner and intermediate, but huge fans of yours.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
You are truly an inspiration.
Thanks again

Hi Tommy,

This is Allen Wu from Vancouver. I'm originally from Hong Kong. How are you? I'm sure you are very busy with your music tour right now. Wish you all the best with you concerts!!

Actually I have a VERY special song request for you. It's a song named "Under a Vast Sky". The Chinese name of the song is 海闊天空. This was the last song that he wrote before his pass away. Here is the link of the song:

I had this idea came up in my mind when I was driving to work this morning. What can be better to have you (The best finger style guitarist) to play this song to dedicated to Wong Ka Kui. This coming June 30th would be Wong Ka Kui's pass away 20th years anniversary. (He died in an accident when he was filming a TV Entertainment show in Japan. He was only 33 years old that year)

His music and his life has inspired many many people in Hong Kong and in China. I play guitar mostly because of him. Long story short, I really wish to see you play this song in your style and arrangement. I'm sure your playing "Under a Vast Sky" will be a big impact to the Hong Kong media and It can also be a great media to connect with your Asian fans like me.

Also, Ka Kui had a dream to have a CD album with only guitar, but too bad he died young and can't complete his dream.

Tommy, thank you so much for your time! Since you don't know who is Wong Ka Kui, so you may not understand how we feel about his sudden death 20 years ago. But I'm sure through his music. You can have a connection with his music and and his dream. Thank you so much! And Wish you all the best with your concert tonight!!

P.S. And You can find out more about Wong Ka Kui wa from here:

Allen Wu

Hi Tommy,
We attended your 17 June concert at the Birchemere.
My 10 Year old son (whose birthday is Wednesday) were lucky enough to be able to meet you backstage. I don't have words to express how grateful I am for the time you took to speak with him. He was a bit "star struck" and didn't say a whole lot, but I can say you made a huge impact on him. All he did all the way home was talk about how great you were, and how "awesome" it was to meet you.
I'm amazed at how gracious you were to take time out of your busy schedule to speak with a young boy for a length of time. That kind of thing just doesn't happen anymore, but it did last night and I'm truely grateful.
I hope one day I'll be able to return the favor.

Thanks again.

Jason

I would love to hear and see you perform Shenandoah.

I've heard Tony Rice and a few others do it, but, I believe you could perfect it.

God Bless.

Tommy,
We saw the show in Roanoke last Saturday and you were wonderful. My dad actually saw you there last year and wanted to bring me with him this year. He couldn't make it this year due to health problems (doing better now though). I brought a friend with me and he was as blown away as I was. Thank you so very much for all you do!
